THE LINCOLN MARKER PROJECT

For

The Inaugural Train of 1861

and

The Funeral Train of 1865

The two most note worthy journey's of the Lincoln presidency was the inaugural train journey from Springfield to Washington, D.C. in 1861 and the funeral train and national funeral in 1865.  Little has been done to formally acknowledge the approximately 600 communities along the two routes. The creation of two distinct and dedicated historical markers that focuses on each site and on the two trains separately is a unique opportunity to recognize the service of President Abraham Lincoln on a local basis and the importance of the two trains.

Find out if your community was on the route of either train  LIST OF TOWNS ALONG THE INAUGURAL TRAIN AND FUNERAL TRAIN ROUTES

from that site you will be taken into pages for the markers.
